The Detection Of Controlled Substances By Homogenous Enzyme Immunoassay In Urine Samples Of Arrested Persons At Antinarcotic Department
Abstract
Background&Objective: The abuse of controlled substances increased in the last decade in all the world so it was necessary to detect them in urine samples of arrested persons to know which of these are more used and to get accurate informations that can help police and ministry of health in their work
Materials&Methods: A retrospective analytical study of the results of the urine samples of the arrested persons who were suspected to take controlled substances analysed in the antinarcotic department of Damascus By homogenous enzyme immunoassay
Results: The number of arrested persons who were accepted to get this analysis was 1231 : female 78, positive cases 300(24.3%), cannabis : (76.3%), Benzodiazepin (28.6%), Amphetamine (8.3%), opioid (2.3%), cocaine (0.7%) ,
Conclusion: Cannabis is the most used substance then benzodiazepine. Most of cases were males. abused females are 3.4% only. there was a use of more than substance in 41 cases with high percentage of cannabis with benzodiazepine.
It makes it necessary to control and follow up of the psychiatric patients who take benzodiazepine.
