Abstract

Cognitive ability de

Cognitive ability declines in the elderly with age, and this decline leads to the occurrence of senile dementia. This research was conducted with the aim of evaluating the effect of applying a training portfolio for memory stimulation on cognitive ability among senile dementia patients. The quasi-experimental approach was followed in this research, and it was conducted on a sample of 40 elderly people who were selected in a convenient manner. The research data were collected using three tools; tool I: a demographic data sheet, and tool II: Mini-Mental status examination scale,  and tool III: a memory assessment questionnaire for the elderly. The results showed that applying the training portfolio led to raising the level of cognitive ability among elderly people with mild cognitive disorder. Therefore, it is recommended to conduct cognitive stimulation programs for the elderly that work to stimulate memory, and apply the developed portfolio to elderly people with dementia in nursing homes and conduct a study on the effect of a cognitive training program on memory in elderly people with dementia in nursing homes.
