Abstract

Aim: The aim of the study is to compare the precision of anterior teeth preparation for laminate veneers using both naked eye and loups .

Materials and Methods : 20 human non-carious upper central incisors extracted for periodontal reasons were divided into two groups (each group contain 10 teeth) :

The first Group (naked eye group) : teeth were prepared for laminate veneers with naked eye .

The second Group (loups group) : teeth were prepared for laminate veneers with loups under 3.5x magnification .

A dental scan was performed before and after preparation using a laboratory scanner. Digital measurements were then made for the quantity and thickness of the preparation in millimeters using Exocad software to evaluate the accuracy of the tooth preparation (finish line preparation - facial surface preparation at three levels: subgingival, middle, and incisal - reduction of the incisal edge) for both preparation methods (bare eye and magnifying lenses).

Results: Significant difference was observed between groups in the precision values at a 95% Confidence interval and P-value ˂ 0.05 . The preparation under magnification of loups was much more precise .

Conclusions: It is recommended to use loups to prerpare anterior teeth for laminate veneers .
