Abstract

Metal-ceramic crowns and bridges are at the forefront of fixed dental prostheses due to their suitability, beauty, and good resistance achieved by the reinforcement with metal, ultimately achieving functional, aesthetic, and anatomical aspects. This study was conducted on sixty cases that were regularly monitored and followed up. Thirty-eight cases were female, and twenty-two cases were male. Thirty-nine cases were under 40 years old, while twenty one cases were over 40 years old. Thirty-six cases involved bridges, and twenty-four cases involved single crowns. Fifty-two cases used nickel-chromium metal, three cases used gold-palladium metal, and five cases used silver-palladium metal. All sixty clinical cases included in the study were provided with metal-ceramic restorations. The finish line was shoulder-shaped at the gingival margins, except for anterior abutments where subgingival preparation was done by 0.5 mm only on the lingual surface for aesthetic purposes. These cases were monitored and followed up for three years without any significant failures or issues. They achieved aesthetic, functional, and anatomical success. The study results concluded the success of metal-ceramic restorations in achieving functional, aesthetic, and anatomical aspects, and statistical and clinical results were extracted. Subsequently, some clinical cases encountered in this study were presented due to metal failure, cracking between ceramic and metal due to improper fit or manufacturing process, diagnosing the cause of failure, conducting necessary treatment, replacing old restorations with new ones, and other clinical cases that were handled.
