Problems encountered by nursing student during their clinical training in the hospital
Abstract
Clinical training in nursing education is an important component of the nursing curriculum aimed at actively engaging student nurses with the necessary skills needed for the nursing profession. Awareness of any issue that may affect the learning process of nursing students in the clinical area is essential to ensure that maximum benefits are gained from this aspect of nursing education. This descriptive study aimed to identify nursing students’ problems experienced by (141) nursing students representing (50%) of fourth year bachelor nursing students during clinical training. Data were collected between 17/4/2016 and 8/5/2016 by using a questionnaire developed by the researcher. Results showed that (62,4 % ) of students reported that the teaching staff were not present with them during clinical training, and (88,7 %) of staff were not using new method of training and (63,8%) of student were not learning new skill. (71,6%) of student mentioned that hospital employees were not supportive and uncooperative, ,students were not able to transfer theoretical knowledge they had learned into practice (83%), crowding was the most important problem (90%) in the physical environment. This research recommended supervise the performance of clinical tutors within the hospital, and review the weak points in the theoretical modules in terms of their clinical application.
مشاكل طلاب كلية التمريض خلال التدريب العملي في المستشفى
يُعتبر التدريب السريري في التعليم التمريضي مكون مهم في منهاج التمريض، و يهدف لدمج طلاب التمريض بشكل فعّال مع المهارات الضرورية في مهنة التمريض، لذا فإنّ التعرف على أهم التحديات و المشاكل التي تواجه طلاب التمريض في بيئة التدريب السريري ضرورية جداً لضمان الحصول على الفائدة القصوى من هذا الجانب من التعليم التمريضي. تهدف هذه الدراسة الوصفية لتحديد أهم المشاكل التي تواجه (141) طالب يمثلون (50%) من طلاب السنة الرابعة في كلية التمريض خلال التدريب السريري. جُمعت البيانات في الفترة الواقعة بين 17/4/2016
و 8/5/2016 باستخدام استبيان مطور من قبل الباحثة. و قد أظهرت النتائج أن (62.4%) من الطلبة ذكروا عدم تواجد المشرف معهم خلال التدريب, و(88،7%) أشاروا إلى عدم استخدام المشرف لوسائل حديثة في التدريب,
و (63.8%) لا يتم تعليمهم مهارات جديدة. في حين ذكر (71.6%) من الطلبة عدم وجود عناصر متعاونة أو داعمة لهم من العاملين في المشفى، و كان الازدحام من أهم المشاكل التي عانوا منها في بيئة المستشفى الفيزيائية (90%). و كان هناك صعوبة في تطبيق المعلومات النظرية التي تدرس في الصف في الواقع العملي عند(83%) من الطلاب. و قد أوصت الدراسة بضرورة الإشراف على أداء مدرسي الجزء العملي من المقرر و التنسيق مع العناصر العاملة في المستشفى, و مراجعة نقاط ضعف المقررات النظرية بالنسبة للتطبيق العملي.
